Tired of all that crazy work? Have a bite of this decadent dinner with gooey cheese and smoky bacon that you can easily make in just under thirty-five minutes. A perfect pair of beer any time you need a pick me up.


1 pound ground beef (at least 80% lean)

1/2 c. chopped onion

2 tbsp Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour

1 c. lager beer

1/2 c. Progresso™ beef flavoured broth (from 32 ounces carton)

2 tsp Worcestershire sauce

2 tsp Dijon mustard

2 c. shredded Cheddar cheese (8 ounces)

12 slices cooked bacon

4 burger buns, toasted

How to make Cheesy Bacon and Beer Sloppy Joes

Step 1: Cook the beef and onion in a 12-inch nonstick skillet for about 6 to 8 minutes over medium-high heat until the beef is cooked through, stirring frequently. Add the flour and cook for another minute, stirring. Add in the beer, broth, Worcestershire sauce, and mustard. Allow the mixture to boil, then adjust the heat to medium. Simmer for about 5 to 10 minutes until the sauce has thickened while stirring occasionally. Remove from the heat, then stir in a cup of cheese followed by 4 crumbled bacon slices.

Step 2: Over the beef mixture, sprinkle the rest of the 1 cup cheese. DO NOT STIR.

Step 3: Cover the skillet with the lid and allow the cheese to melt for about 5 minutes.

Step 4: Onto the bottom halves of the toasted buns, spoon the mixture, top each with 2 bacon slices, then place the other halves of the toasted buns on top.


You can often find the Worcestershire sauce in steak sauces.

To achieve that ultimate cheesiness, make sure not to stir the last cup of cheese into the beef mixture and just let it melt on top.

For that added crunch and keeping the buns from getting soggy, ensure to take time to toast the buns before topping with the beef mixture.

For this recipe, the best choice for cooking is lager beer because it is lighter, avoiding the risk of your dish tasting hoppy, malty, or bitter.
