If you are looking for another easy, one-pot meal that you can throw together in under thirty minutes, then you are in luck! This spicy sausage pasta skillet is one of my forever favourite as I can make this even with my very busy schedule. My family loves everything about this one-pot meal with andouille sausage, jalapeno, pasta.
I have been super busy these past few weeks. The kids are now back to school, and I am back in the office. I have been working from home since the pandemic started. I decided to take the leap and get back on my feet. My family is very supportive, and I cannot ask for anything more! So to thank them for always being so understanding, I promise to make time to prep meals for them. And this one-pot spicy sausage pasta skillet is just perfect!
14 oz. andouille sausage, cut into thin rings
4 oz. cream cheese
1/2 c. finely diced red onion
2 tsp olive oil
8 oz. uncooked penne
2 jalapeños, sliced into 1/2 rings
salt and pepper to taste
16 oz. can tomato sauce
1 c. chicken broth
How to make One Pot Spicy Sausage Pasta Skillet
Step 1: Into a skillet, add the olive oil, sausage, and red onion. Cook for about 5 to 6 minutes over medium-high heat until the sausage starts to brown, stirring often.
Step 2: To the skillet, add the tomato sauce, chicken broth, and jalapeños. Bring everything to a boil before adding in the penne. Then, decrease the heat and simmer for about 10 minutes or until the penne is tender.
Step 3: Lastly, add the cream cheese and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Stir well.
Step 4: Remove from the oven when done and serve the spicy sausage pasta skillet hot. Enjoy!
Add more broth or water if you prefer your pasta less firm. Make sure to add the liquid in half cup increments or until the pasta reached your desired firmness.
