SESAME CHICKEN

Ingredients:

1 1/2 pound chicken breast fillets cut into bite-size pieces

1/4 c cornstarch

3 – 4 tablespoons canola or vegetable oil

2 cloves garlic finely minced

1/4 c low sodium soy sauce

1 tbsp rice vinegar

1 tsp sesame oil

1/4 c honey

1 – 1 1/2 tbsp chilli sauce (sambal oelek)

2 tbsp cornstarch

1/4 c cold water

2 tbsp sesame seeds

4 green onions trimmed and sliced into one-inch pieces

Directions:

Add 1/4 cup of cornstarch and the chicken slices inside a large resealable bag. Shake the bag until the chicken slices are well coated.

Place a saucepan on the stove and turn the heat to medium.

Add 2 tbsp of oil and allow it to become hot.

Add the chicken slices and cook each side until brown. Remove from the heat.

Place another saucepan on the stove and turn the heat to medium.

Add another tbsp of oil and allow it to become hot.

Add the garlic land sauté until aromatic.

Add rice vinegar, soy sauce, honey, sesame oil, and chilli sauce. Stir until well mixed.

Add dissolved cornstarch and stir again until well blended. Cook for a few minutes until the texture becomes thick.

In the same pan where you cooked the chicken, add sesame seeds and turn the heat to medium-high. Toast the sesame seeds for about 5 minutes. Make sure to stir continuously. Remove them from the pan.

Put the chicken slices back to the pan, then pour in the sauce and sprinkle the toasted sesame seeds and scallions.

Serve hot and enjoy!

Note:

Serve this dish over noodles or rice.
