15.5 ounces salsa

1 ½ c water or milk

16 ounces pasta shells

Optional: Add ½ c cream cheese, sour cream, or half & half for a creamier sauce

2 pounds of ground meat beef, chicken, and/or turkey

½ c shredded cheddar or Mexican blend cheese

2 (1 ounce) packets of taco seasoning (¼ c if using bulk taco seasoning)


Place a Dutch oven with water on the stove and turn the heat to high. Allow the water to boil.

Add the pasta and a bit of salt, then cook for a few minutes until al dente.

Drain the cooked pasta and place it into a large mixing bowl.

In the same Dutch oven, add the ground meat and a bit of oil. Turn the heat to medium, then cook for a few minutes until crumbly and brown. Remove any fat.

Put the cooked pasta back into the Dutch oven over the meat.

Mix water with the seasoning packet. Pour the mixture into the pot.

Add salsa, then toss until the pasta noodles are well coated. Sprinkle the shredded cheese on top.

Prepare the oven and preheat to 200 degrees C or 400 degrees F.

Place the pot in the preheated oven and bake for about 18 to 22 minutes or until the cheese turns golden brown.

Remove Taco Pasta Casserole from the oven, then add the toppings over.

Serve right away. Enjoy!


Feel free to use milk instead of water.
