THE BEST SALISBURY STEAK RECIPE WITH MUSHROOM-ONION GRAVY

This Salisbury steak recipe is the best I've ever tried. The gravy is absolutely delicious, and the mushrooms and onions add the perfect amount of flavor. The meat is cooked to perfection, and it's so juicy and tender. This dish is definitely a keeper!

Ingredients
  

  • For the steak:
  • Ground beef 1 pound (454g)
  • 1/4 cup 30 g, breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons 10ml, Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon 5ml, onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon 22.5ml, garlic salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon 2.5ml, mustard powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1.25ml kosher salt
  • Lots of freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 Tablespoon 15ml, oil to fry beef patties
  • For the Mushroom gravy
  • 8 ounces 227 grams mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 medium onion sliced
  • 3 Tablespoons 30g, butter
  • 2 cloves garlic minced or crushed
  • 1/4 to 1/2 cup flour 30-60 g, depending on how thick the gravy you prefer
  • 3 cups 720ml soup (beef or chicken
  • Kosher salt to your liking
  • black pepper to your liking

Instructions
 

  • In a large bowl combine all the steak ingredients : beef, breadcrumbs and egg. Shape into 4 oval patties.
  • Heat oil in a large pan on medium-high heat. Broil both sides of patties for about 1 minute . Then, take out from the pan.
  • The same pan and the beef juices can be kept on medium heat. Allow the onions to brown and add the mushrooms.
  • Add butter and garlic to the mushrooms. Cook for about one minute.
  • Stir in flour. Continue cooking, stirring until no lumps remain. Whisk in approximately 1/2 cup to 1 Cup beef stock. Mix until well blended.
  • Turn the heat up to High. Slowly pour the broth into a bowl and mix until it is well combined. Salt and pepper to taste .
  • Once the gravy is boiling, turn down the heat to medium. Slowly simmer, stirring occasionally, until gravy thickens. This should take approximately 5-10 mins. The gravy should be stirred around with the steak patties. Check the seasoning. If needed, add salt and pepper to taste.
  • Serve the steaks with mushroom sauce. They're great over pasta, rice, and mashed potatoes.
