BEST CHOCOLATE BANANA BREAD

Ingredients

1 c all-purpose flour

1/2 c cocoa powder

2 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp sea salt

1 1/2 c mashed bananas (about 3 medium bananas)

1 large Egg (room temperature)

1/4 c unsalted butter (melted)

1/4 c canola oil

1 c light brown sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 c large semisweet chocolate chips

1/2 c walnuts (chopped)

How to Make the Best Chocolate Banana Bread

Step 1: Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 350 degrees F.

Step 2: Use a nonstick baking spray to grease a 9 x 5-inches loaf pan. Set aside.

Step 3: Place the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and sea salt in a medium bowl. Whisk to combine or sift if time permits and set aside.

Step 4: Put the ripe bananas in a large bowl. Mash with a fork until no large chunks are left. Stir in the slightly cooled melted butter, oil, vanilla, and eggs until completely incorporated.

Step 5: Add the brown sugar to the bowl and whisk until smooth.

Step 6: Gently fold in the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients using a spatula. Be careful not to overmix the batter.

Step 7: Add 3/4 cup chocolate chips and chopped walnuts into the batter and fold.

Step 8: Place the batter into the prepared pan. Sprinkle over the rest of the 1/4 cup chocolate chips.

Step 9: Place inside the preheated oven. Bake for about 50 to 60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the middle of the bread comes out clean. Note to begin checking the loaf at the 50 minutes mark. Bake further if needed and check on it every 5 minutes.

Step 10: Take the bread out of the oven and onto a wire cooling rack. Allow cooling in the pan for at least 15 minutes. Using a knife, remove the bread from the pan. Run the knife around the edges and very carefully take the bread out. Move it to a wire cooling rack until a bit warm.

Step 11: Slice and serve. Enjoy!
