CHRISTMAS SUGAR COOKIE BARS

These cookie bars are perfect for your holiday parties. They have the frosting on top, so you don’t need to worry about getting messy. You can change up the frosting color for different occasions or just because you want to.

Ingredients:

Sugar Cookie Bars:

1/2 cup unsalted butter softened until room temperature
4 oz cream cheese
1 cup white sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Optional: 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
2 large eggs
2 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons cornstarch
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt

Frosting:

1/2 cup unsalted butter
2 oz cream cheese
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 to 3 cups powdered Sugar
Holiday sprinkles

Instructions:

Sugar Cookie Bars:

Preheat the oven to 350F.

Lightly grease a 9×13-inch pan with aluminum foil. Or, line it with parchment paper.

Mix the butter, cream cheese, and sugar in a large bowl until smooth.

Mix in the almond extract, vanilla extract, and eggs.

Mix together flour, cornstarch and baking powder in a separate bowl.

Mix the flour mixture with the butter mixture, about 1/2 at a.

Spread the batter in the prepared pan. Use lightly greased hands to press it into the pan.

Bake for 22-25 minutes in the oven or until the top is set.

Allow the bars to cool completely before putting them in the pan.

Frosting:

Mix the butter and cream cheese together until smooth.

Add the vanilla extract and salt.

Use the mixer at low speed to incorporate the powdered sugar. Continue beating until you reach the desired sweetness.

Frost the cookie bars and sprinkle with holiday sprinkles.
