Chili is a dish that’s always in season, and it’s always delicious. It also comes with a variety of options for customization. And if you’re not sure where to start, this classic chili recipe is a great place to start because it’s simple to make and just like what mom used to make.

Chili is a flavorful and hearty dish that is perfect for a chilly day. It is made with a variety of ingredients, including beans, tomatoes, and spices. Chili can be enjoyed on its own or served over rice or pasta.

Ingredients:

1 tablespoon olive oils
1 medium yellow onion -diced
1 lb. 90% lean ground meat
2 1/2 tablespoons chili powder
2 tablespoons ground cumin
2 tablespoons of granulated sugar
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon ground pepper
1/4 teaspoon ground chili pepper*
1 1/2 cups beef stock
1 (15 oz.) Can petite diced tomatoes be used?
1 (16 oz.) Red kidney beans can be drained and rinsed.

1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce

Instructions:

Place the olive oil in a large soup pan and heat it on medium-high heat for 2 minutes. Add the onion. Stir frequently for 5 minutes.

Add the ground beef to your pot. Use a wooden spoon to break it up. Stir occasionally for about 6-7 minutes.

Mix the chili powder, cumin powder, sugar, tomato paste and garlic powder together. Season with salt, pepper, and optionally cayenne. Stir until well combined.

Add the broth, diced tomatoes with their juice, drained beans and tomato sauce. Stir well.

Bring the liquid to boil. Reduce heat to low to medium-low and simmer the chili covered for 20-25 minutes stirring occasionally.

The pot should be taken off the heat. Allow the chili to cool for at least 5-10 minutes before you serve it.
