Tirokafteri is a classic Greek dip made with creamy feta cheese and spicy peppers, blended into a smooth and flavorful spread. Known for its rich texture and slightly fiery taste, this dish is a must-try for anyone who loves bold Mediterranean flavors. It’s quick to prepare, incredibly versatile, and perfect as a dip, spread, or appetizer.

The first time I made tirokafteri, it was for a casual family evening, and I wanted something simple but a little different. I wasn’t sure how everyone would react to the spicy feta combination—but it turned out to be a huge hit! My husband kept dipping bread into it, saying he couldn’t stop because of the perfect balance between creamy and spicy. Since then, it’s become one of our favorite appetizers, especially when we want to impress guests without spending too much time in the kitchen.

Why This Tirokafteri Recipe

  • Quick to prepare in just minutes
  • Perfect as a dip, spread, or side dish
  • Easily adjustable spice level to suit your taste
  • Pairs beautifully with bread, crackers, or grilled dishes

Ingredients:

  • Feta cheese – 250 g / 0.55 lb

  • Roasted red peppers – 120 g / 0.26 lb
  • Fresh chili pepper (or to taste) – 10 g / 0.02 lb

Directions:

  1. Place the feta cheese, Greek yogurt, roasted red peppers, chili pepper, and garlic into a food processor.

  5. Taste and adjust the spice level or seasoning if needed.
  6. Transfer to a serving bowl and drizzle a little olive oil on top before serving.

Notes:

  • You can adjust the heat by adding more or less chili pepper
  • If the dip is too thick, add a small amount of olive oil or yogurt to loosen it
  • For a smokier flavor, use fire-roasted peppers
  • Serve chilled or at room temperature for the best taste
  • Store in the refrigerator for up to 3 days in an airtight container
