The first time I baked this Cheesy Ground Beef Roll, I honestly didn’t expect it to be such a hit — but my husband went back for seconds (and thirds!) before I even sat down at the table. Now, it’s one of those recipes I make when I want something warm and cozy that everyone will love. My little family enjoys slicing it up into rounds and serving it with a side salad or dipping it into marinara sauce for extra indulgence. It’s easy, fun, and absolutely delicious — and it always disappears faster than I can make it!

  • Perfect for sharing – Slice into rounds for party appetizers or serve as a family-style dinner.

  • Simple ingredients – Uses pantry staples and refrigerated dough for convenience.

  • Kid-approved – The cheesy beef filling makes this a guaranteed family pleaser.

  • Versatile – Pair with dipping sauces, serve with a salad, or enjoy on its own.

Ingredients

(Serves about 4–6 people)

  • 450 g (1 lb) ground beef

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp onion powder

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning

  • 3 g (½ tsp) salt

  • 1 g (¼ tsp) black pepper

  • 170 g (1 ½ cups) cheddar cheese, shredded

  • 115 g (1 cup) mozzarella cheese, shredded

  • 15 g (¼ cup) fresh parsley, chopped (plus extra for garnish)

  • 1 can refrigerated crescent roll dough

  • 1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven: Set oven to 190°C (375°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. Cook the beef: Heat a skillet over medium, add ground beef, and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon. Drain any excess grease.

  3. Season the beef: Stir in garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Let cook for 2–3 minutes to blend flavors, then remove from heat to cool slightly.

  4. Add cheese and parsley: Transfer beef to a bowl and stir in cheddar, mozzarella, and parsley until well combined.

  5. Prepare the dough: Unroll crescent dough into one large rectangle. Pinch seams together to form a solid sheet.

  6. Fill and roll: Spread beef mixture evenly over the dough, leaving a border at the edges. Roll up tightly from the long side into a log. Seal the seam and tuck in the ends.

  7. Egg wash & bake: Place seam-side down on baking sheet. Brush with beaten egg for a glossy finish. Bake for 20–25 minutes, until golden brown.

  8. Slice & serve: Let rest 5 minutes before slicing into rounds. Garnish with parsley and serve warm.

Notes

  • Dipping ideas: Pair with marinara, ranch, or spicy sriracha mayo for extra flavor.

  • Cheese swap: Try Monterey Jack, gouda, or pepper jack for a different twist.

  • Meal prep friendly: The beef mixture can be cooked ahead and stored in the fridge for up to 2 days before assembling.

  • Make it spicy: Add chili flakes or diced jalapeños to the beef mix for a kick.
