Alabama Fire Crackers

Alabama Fire Crackers are a classic Southern snack that have been enjoyed for generations. These crackers are coated in a savory, spicy seasoning blend that's sure to please your taste buds.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups of olive oil 473 ml
  • 1/2 teaspoon of onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 1 oz packages of ranch dressing mix (28 g)
  • 3 tablespoons of crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1 16 oz package of saltine crackers (454 g)

Instructions
 

  • In a gallon-sized zip-top bag, combine the olive oil, onion powder, garlic powder, black pepper, ranch dressing mix, and crushed red pepper flakes. Close the bag and knead or shake it to combine the ingredients.
  • Add the saltine crackers to the bag, seal it, and gently turn the bag over until the crackers are coated with the seasoning.
  • Let the bag sit overnight to allow the seasoning to soak into the crackers.
  • Preheat your oven to 250°F (121°C) and spread the crackers out on a baking sheet.
  • Bake the crackers for about 15 minutes or until they are golden brown and the oil has been absorbed.
  • Allow the crackers to cool before serving.

Notes

If you're not a fan of spicy food, you can reduce or omit the crushed red pepper flakes.
You can also experiment with different types of crackers, such as oyster crackers or mini saltines.
Store any leftover crackers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
