Ingredients
  

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil 30 ml
  • ¼ cup minced fresh garlic about 6-7 cloves (25 g)
  • 1 pound extra-large shrimp peeled and deveined (450 g)
  • 1 ½ teaspoons paprika 2 g
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter diced into 1 tablespoon pieces (85 g)
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour 8 g
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice 15 ml
  • 1 tablespoon minced fresh parsley optional (5 g)
  • teaspoon cayenne pepper optional (0.5 g)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper

Instructions
 

  • Pat dry the shrimp with paper towels. In a bowl, combine the shrimp with the flour, paprika, cayenne pepper, and salt and pepper. Toss until the shrimp are evenly coated.
  • In a large non-stick skillet, melt the butter with the olive oil over medium heat. Add the garlic and cook for about 30 seconds, stirring often, until fragrant.
  • Add the shrimp in an even layer to the skillet and cook for about 2 minutes on each side until pinkish and cooked through.
  • Remove the skillet from heat and drizzle the shrimp with lemon juice. If desired, sprinkle with minced parsley. Serve the Hawaiian Garlic Shrimp topped with the extra garlic butter sauce from the pan.

Notes

For a spicier kick, increase the amount of cayenne pepper or add red pepper flakes.
Serve over rice or with a side salad for a complete meal.
To make the dish even more authentic, use a blend of Hawaiian sea salt and black pepper.
