Tasty and Unique Porcupine Meatballs

Ingredients
  

  • 1 can 15 oz tomato sauce
  • 1 cup 240 ml water, divided
  • 2 tablespoons 30 g light brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons 10 ml Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup 90 g uncooked long-grain white rice
  • 1/3 cup 40 g chopped onion
  • 1 teaspoon 5 g salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon 2.5 g garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon 1 g black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon 0.5 g paprika
  • 1 pound 450 g lean ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons 30 ml canola oil
  • 1 tablespoon 15 ml chopped parsley (for garnish, optional)

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 175 degrees C (350 degrees F).
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the tomato sauce, brown sugar, 1/2 cup water, and Worcestershire sauce until well blended.
  • In another mixing bowl, combine the rice, onion, 1/2 cup of water, black pepper, garlic powder, salt, and paprika, and stir until well combined.
  • Add the oil and ground beef to the rice mixture, and stir until well mixed.
  • Form small meatballs out of the mixture, about 1-2 inches in diameter.
  • Arrange the meatballs in a 9×13-inch baking dish, leaving space between each meatball.
  • Pour the tomato sauce mixture over the meatballs, making sure each meatball is coated.
  • Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 30 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and continue baking for another 30 minutes or until the meatballs are cooked through.
  • Remove from the oven and sprinkle chopped parsley on top.
  • Serve hot and enjoy
