Honey Garlic Chicken

Ingredients
  

  • 1.4 kg 3 lbs chicken pieces (skin-on, any cuts)
  • 4-6 cloves garlic finely minced
  • 1 small onion grated or minced finely
  • 60 ml ¼ cup reduced-sodium soy sauce
  • 80 ml ⅓ cup ketchup
  • 80 ml ⅓ cup + 1 tbsp honey
  • Pinch of red pepper flakes
  • 15 ml 1 tbsp rice wine vinegar
  • 22.5 g 1 ½ tbsp brown sugar

For the Sauce on the Side:

  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • Drippings from the baking dish

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 190°C (375°F).
  • In a 23 cm x 25 cm (9" x 10") glass baking dish, thoroughly whisk together all the ingredients except for the chicken until well combined.
  • Add the chicken pieces to the dish, ensuring they are coated with the mixture. Spoon some of the sauce over each piece.
  • Optional: For more intense flavor, marinate the chicken in the sauce ahead of time.
  • Place the baking dish in the oven, uncovered, and bake for 45-60 minutes. While it cooks, spoon some of the sauce over the chicken a few times to baste it.
  • Once the chicken is cooked through, transfer each piece to a serving plate.
  • Serve the Honey Garlic Chicken with rice, vegetables, or your preferred accompaniments.
