Honey Garlic Chicken

Ingredients
  

  • 1.4 kg 3 lbs chicken pieces (skin-on, any cuts)
  • 4-6 cloves garlic finely minced
  • 1 small onion grated or minced finely
  • 60 ml ¼ cup reduced-sodium soy sauce
  • 80 ml ⅓ cup ketchup
  • 80 ml ⅓ cup + 1 tbsp honey
  • Pinch of red pepper flakes
  • 15 ml 1 tbsp rice wine vinegar
  • 22.5 g 1 ½ tbsp brown sugar
For the Sauce on the Side:
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • Drippings from the baking dish

Method
 

  1. Preheat the oven to 190°C (375°F).
  2. In a 23 cm x 25 cm (9" x 10") glass baking dish, thoroughly whisk together all the ingredients except for the chicken until well combined.
  3. Add the chicken pieces to the dish, ensuring they are coated with the mixture. Spoon some of the sauce over each piece.
  4. Optional: For more intense flavor, marinate the chicken in the sauce ahead of time.
  5. Place the baking dish in the oven, uncovered, and bake for 45-60 minutes. While it cooks, spoon some of the sauce over the chicken a few times to baste it.
  6. Once the chicken is cooked through, transfer each piece to a serving plate.
  7. Serve the Honey Garlic Chicken with rice, vegetables, or your preferred accompaniments.
